CHARETTE DAY PHOTOS
We decided we wanted to create a simple but effective form that looked like it were defying the properties of the material. We restricted ourselves to using only two materials – plastic bottles and cling film – in order to keep consistency and simplicity in the design; we also needed a constraint in order to challenge us so we produced a better quality structure. For the charette day, we played around with how this can be achieved and came up with a flowing arch design that we made a maquette of to present with.
We planned to use different gradients of blue water (coloured with food dye) that started a deep inky blue at the bottom and lightened towards the top; the water also helped weight down the structure, particularly at the bottom where the bottles were completely filled with water.
